The structures in the first panel are called the "pillars of power". Built by Emperor Raz as a show of dominance and power. We'll learn more as the story continues.

In the second panel is Dike's "Chi"(spiritual double). It bears the shape of a lion. That's all I'll be revealing for now xD.

I find the pillars a very interesting idea! ILike a conqueror marking his territory, I just watched a documentary on Alexander the great so this tickles me xD

It's a flashback, yes. And dike' s story is only beginning. This event will change things for him in ways he couldn't imagine.
